This is a prototype tool that I developed for Oregon State University. It is a completely automated tool that analyzes biological samples in a 96well plate. The custom designed/built light base (bottom, black) is controlled via serial and activates only the lights below the samples being examined to limit exposure. A Cognex machine vision camera is mounted on motorized X-Y stages which it communicates directly with through serial to move from sample location to sample location. All the code for control and analysis is in the Cognex camera. Results from the test are transferred via FTP over Ethernet to a server (in this case the laptop next to it).
